Faith Kinya

Faith Kinya has four children who are young and all attending school except for her newborn. Due to harsh treatment in her household as a child, she had no choice but to leave home and drop out of school. In her village today, many deal with similar problems of drought, lack of lighting, and famine.

Faith says she is extremely grateful for the women in the adult literacy group. It has helped her feel comfortable to open up, talk, and share her hardships. She is so happy to feel a sense of empowerment as a woman by being able to provide for her family instead of relying on her husband. The money from her baskets has allowed her to buy water tanks and also solar lamps so that her kids can do homework at night.
